Castor Oil

Castor oil (Ricinus communis) has a long history of use in tropical regions, where castor seeds are traditionally pressed to obtain a dense, plant-based oil. In Zanzibar, castor plants are cultivated and processed on a small scale, following established methods of seed pressing.

The oil naturally consists of a high proportion of fatty acids, including ricinoleic acid, which contributes to its thick, viscous texture and distinctive appearance. These components are part of the oil’s natural composition and define its physical characteristics.

Our castor oil is sourced from Zanzibar and cold-pressed to preserve its natural structure. Left unrefined beyond essential processing, it is offered as a pure, single-ingredient oil without additives or fragrance.

This product represents a restrained approach to traditional oil production, focused on origin, simplicity, and material honesty.
